You can’t make a difference without being different. You’ll hear me say that often because it’s true.
An example of this is displayed in the self-centeredness of our society. Today’s personal-development resources are all about achieving and improving our own life. But this isn’t how we make a difference. We make a difference by living differently than what these resources tell us.
We make a difference by living selflessly like Jesus in everything we do.
To encourage you in this journey of selflessness and making a difference, I created a new personal-development resource. You’re looking at it right now. It’s called JesusHacks (as opposed to a lifehack).
To make a difference, I realize that we need different content to challenge our thinking in a self-centered society. That’s why I took the effort to scan the Internet for influential articles that helped me cultivate a selfless understanding this week.
I hope they encourage you as well.
1. Achieving vs. Becoming | The Rising Blog by David Valentine
In this article, David brilliantly articulates that at the end of the day when we have achieved much of our tasks and goals, what really counts is who we are.
2. How to Make Better Decisions | Darrell Vesterfelt
Darrell Vesterfelt shows us how to get in touch with our emotions to make better decisions. Typically, our decisions can be very self-centered, but Darrell helps us overcome that.
3. We Need More Creators and Fewer Critics | RELEVANT Magazine by Tyler Edwards
Jesus was not a critic, but so often when it comes to Christians in culture, we can still adopt this posture. It’s time we make a difference with our gifts and concentrate our efforts to be creators instead.
4. Leadership Lessons from Ruth | Leadership Wired Blog by John Maxwell
John Maxwell, leadership guru, shows us a few great lessons on making a difference that we learn from Ruth in the Bible.
5. The Surprising Root of Culture War Conflicts | RELEVANT Magazine by Michael Hidalgo
We attack others in our culture when we fear the unknown. But Jesus shows us a better example—one that author, Michael Hidalgo, highlights in this article.
Let these articles inspire you to live selflessly and make a difference in a world that needs it.
